A bizarre title to a blog post on a fitness website I’m sure, never mind the fact that it’s still only November and the annual bombardment of commercialism is yet to commence with full force- ba humbug! But last week end I had the chance to meet, and train none the less, with one of the world’s foremost Brazilian ju-jitsu practitioners. Lagarto was in town and there was a real buzz around the TMAS gym.

When Georges St Pierre, current UFC world Champion, comes to London to train with the guy for a month you know he’s top of the tree. I’ve always held high level martial artists in very high regard due to the discipline they have needed to get where they are. Needless to say the seminar didn’t disappoint. An eager to learn group were there to sample Gracie-Barra Ju-Jitsu first hand, and all went home happy at the end of the day. The team slogan says it all, “fight like a team, live like a family.”

On a negative note, Dave’s world title fight has been postponed due to sponsorship issues in Australia, a major blow for Dave and all concerned.  Dave’s work ethic and commitment is second to none, he scaled new heights in his training and preparation for the event. Roll on 2010 when we hope to get another crack.
